Lonely Woman Quarterly

Post by iaredatsun »

I've never see this mentioned before. Lou Reed's 1962 Syracuse literary magazine, Lonely Woman Quarterly, that ran for three issues. Writers include (Luis) Reed, Peter Maloney and Jim Tucker. Illustration by Shelly Albin and Karl Stoecker. Named after the Ornete Coleman tune.

One Reed story was “And What, Little Boy, Will You Trade for Your Horse?” about a young man being picked up by a queen in a bar near Times Square.

Souce: Howard Sounes. “Notes from the Velvet Underground: The Life of Lou Reed.”

I always been interested in Lou's involvement with this publication, it's not discussed much in the story.
Here's a few scans from another issue (i'm not sure which issue). Sorry for anyone who has a problem with the size but thought it would be good to be able to read them..
