The main decision I had to make when transfering the recording was whether to transfer at 24-bit and then down-convert to 16-bit, or just convert at 16-bit. After a bit of research and discussions on some audiophile forums, I decided to do it at 16-bit.
The general concensus was that there would be no noticible difference. The suggestion was made that if I was performing any filtering/editing, it couldn't hurt to transfer at 24-bit and then to 16-bit after edits are complete. Because it was not in my plans to edit, I transferred at 16-bit.
