There's a misunderstanding here. mboy007 used a file host that presents the user with a fake download. Moreover, this fake download is an EXE file, something that Windows has incessantly displayed a warning about since early versions of Widnows. EXE stand for executable. An EXE file is capable of doing literally anything on a computer. EXE is commonly known for installers because it automatically installs the program; an otherwise advanced process (Linux users rarely install things via EXE-type files). Yes, "file lockers" use various things to attempt to support themselves, such as pop up ads, banner ads, and even trying to slip naive computer users alternative downloads -- probably some type of spamming software. As MJG196 implied, the EXE may or may not be presented to you (it depends).

By the way, nowadays companies like Google and Amazon provide file space, and there's none of this stuff whatsoever. It's just free, clean file hosting.

Well, as I recall, around 50 people downloaded the file I put up... So the whole .exe problem couldn't have been that much of a problem.

Guarding yourself against malicious downloads from file hosting sites is very simple indeed (I've been managing it for years now). You simply read what's in front of you and click on what seems to be the most likely download link. If it turns out to be something other than that which you wanted, you hit 'cancel'. I've not been outfoxed once...

Hey jimjim,

I did get around to ripping the 4th, but it did not turn out to be a very good rip. I changed a lot of my equipment in the time between ripping the 3rd and 4th, and it just didn't come out as well. But, it's good enough for you to get an idea of what it sounds like. You can download it from here:

I hope to mess around some more with my new equipment and get a better rip that's up to the standards of the 3rd rip, but enjoy nonetheless!
Thanks...sorry for the late response. Only pop in now and then these days. Glad to see this link was still active 6 weeks later! :)

You're welcome. I plan on leaving this link up long-term, for anyone else who hasn't grabbed it yet. I'll leave it up until somebody makes me take it down. :D

Simon, I've dug up my older model iMic, and I plan on trying to get my vinyl ripping back to as good as it was when I ripped the mono 3rd. I'll at least figure it out if the new iMic was responsible for the poor quality of my "Sundazed 4th" rip, or if it was something else.

Maybe by the end of the weekend, I'll have a nice, good-sounding Sundazed 4th rip to post. :D

In any case, I'd sure like to figure it out and know that I can produce good vinyl rips again. Stay tuned!
