Newsflash! These two volumes are going to be released as part of the Record Store Day international promotion:

(On page 4 if you don't want to spend hours looking).

Ok, I'm still not happy about the 'split' but if my local store has them, I'm in. Perhaps the extra surprise on the day may be that it won't be split!

*bump*

So did anyone take advantage of RSD yesterday and get these? If so, what are they like. Our stores here in Wellington were quite pathetic. Sure, they promoted RSD but didn't promote the special releases. I was buggered if I was able to find them!

Seriously, would love to know how good this sounds.

There are copies on ebay, so it obviously exists. It doesn't look like anything special.

I did a little googling and it seems there were 1500 of vol 1 and 3000 of vol 2(?) that were pre-released for "record store day" last week. The photo on eBay seems to show black cover with white writing (as opposed to the usual cover) and they say white vinyl. I must be getting better because I don't feel like bidding on these! :)

oops, I saw another eBay ad and that photo shows that it looks like some kind of black sleeve with title of album, over the original artwork.

Somehow depending on the the source material he's given, but judging from the mastering-magic he has done on recent vinyl releases, this could be by far the best sounding 1969 Live ever...
