Lou Reed and band in fantastic form at the Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte, NC on August 7, 1989, touring in support of his outstanding "New York" album. This remaster is a combination of two sources:
1. My own cassette master, digitally transferred in the late 1990's. never circulated on DIME.
2. The "Doodee" recording uploaded to DIME in 2009.

My cassette is a very good quality analog audience recording of the complete show. The Doodee recording is digital source and sonically superior to my tape, but is missing some songs and out of order, missing some key dialogue and has a couple of drop outs and volume fluctuations. This torrent is a combination of both sources to bring you an enjoyable version of the complete concert. I did not use any EQ but I did correct the volume changes and used a small bit of normalization to match the level differences between the two sources. I did my best to make smooth cross fades where the two sources transition.
Mo Tucker joins Lou on "Dime Store Mystery" (as she does on the New York album). Like a doofus, I did not tape her opening set with Half Japanese.
This is one of my favorite shows I have ever seen by anyone anywhere and I am happy to share this with Lou fans everywhere. Lou busts out some of his craziest, mind blowing guitar on Video Violence and Original Wrapper, and brings what might be my favorite version of Rock'n'Roll ever. This was an especially creative era for Reed and his enthusiasm is evident here. Enjoy.

If anyone out there has Lou's show from the New Sensations tour at Memorial Hall in Chapel Hill, in any quality, please share. It was my first Lou Reed gig and it changed my life. I have many shows from '83-'84 but I have never been able to find that one.
