Paramount Theatre,1970

Does anyone know details about the background to this recording? Are there really no drums on it, the only time you hear a drum is a circus like roll when the band are introduced.
Its a fascinating recording, the fast version of "Oh Gin" is great as is Lou's lead playing on "Foggy Notion" anyone know more?

As far as I'm aware Mo had already left the band due to her pregnancy and they were playing drummerless - that's why they were using session musicians on the Loaded sessions and employed Billy Yule to drum for the performances at Max's and the later sessions for the Loaded album. There's also a recording of a show at the Second Fret, Philadelphia between May 8-10 where Doug plays drums on a few tracks - check out Oliver's site for more info on this.

I find it pretty amazing, even in those hippy days that the band would play a full gig in a theatre without a drummer. When I heard this recording I thought that maybe there is a drummer playing, but due to the bad recording it was blotted out. Maybe the recorder was next to the guitar amp and there was monitor leakage so you could hear the vocals.
I'm sure you can hear a drum role between songs (then it would be Billy and not Mo :)
Unless there was also a circus that night, I think my theory might be right.

I got my version of this show off of one of the torrent sites (dimeadozen?) a while back. Here is the track listing I have for it:

1. Intro
2. Waiting For The Man
3. Some Kinda Love
4. Sweet Jane (5:50)
5. Lisa Says (cut)
6. Oh Gin
7. Foggy Notion
8. New Age
9. Beginning To See The Light
10. Candy Says
11. Heroin

Intro (listed as Vamp on Screen Test boot) is some kind of instrumental. Oh Gin seems to the only live version I've ever seen.

I have the 11 track version as listed by tarbaby2 - I've never seen or heard of a longer variant.
