Lou Reed At The Roxy, LA, 1976.....

Post by jimjim »

.....is the mutt's nuts!! What a night, what a bootleg! I'd heard only Heroin from the BTAE box set but the whole gig is fucking phenomenal. Lou's scat phrasing & Don Cherry's vamping on 'Kicks' really makes the studio original seem lame. Overall, it was one hell of a good idea of Lou's to get Don to jam with the band that night.

Anyone else love this show?

Which version? I've got 3 different ones! Claim to Fame is outstanding, but Super Golden Radio Shows and the Sweet Lou LP offer different tracklists that make each worthy of picking up. One of the best recordings in his bootleg catalog!!

from memory this show started life as a 90 min tape which included the long band jam/intro to Sweet Jane. My copy of the tape seems to start out in stereo, then abruptly changes to mono during "Kicks". Sound quality is generally excellent.
Isn't this version of "Kicks" just about the most frightening thing in Lou's long career?

My version is the 'Super..' show which I've now discovered is missing 3 songs which are on the CTF set but mine has one song it doesn't have - 'Coney Island Baby'. Also, the jam is cut to 3 minutes.

Could someone with CTF and broadband send me the 4 songs as mp3s ('Jam', 'She's My Best Friend', 'Sheltered Life' and 'Claim To Fame')? Please!

Hey JimJim, I just used my last blank CD-R on another member here, but if you wanna send me a blank disc, I'll burn Claim to Fame for you. I'll take care of return postage. Go check your messages.
