I was wondering why Coney Island Steeplechase has this "telephone voice sound". Is that a result of the mixing in the eighties?
Actually I likeit a lot, but it would be better if the chorus would also have this sound effect. sorry for my bad english..it's too late in here.

I don't think it's a result of the '80s mixing, although I could be wrong. I can think of two other possibilities:
1 - It was a guide vocal, sung by Lou down the studio intercom or something for some reason. They intended to replace it with a 'final' version but as the track was never finished at the time it never happened.
2 - It's meant to sound like a telephone conversation - which does kind of fit in with the lyrics.

thanks. that's a good piont. I never thought about that. Too bad that there isn't a rough mix circulating.Mark wrote: 2 - It's meant to sound like a telephone conversation - which does kind of fit in with the lyrics.
