Mamas little girl, let it shine, caroline, she'll make you cry. Saw these songs listed in the song contest, and have never heard them. please someone throw some light on this.

They are all post-Lou Velvet Underground songs. Eleven of them are off Squeeze, four of them are off the Final V.U. 1971-1973 live box set. All of them were written by Doug except "Pretty Tree Climber" and "Spare Change", which were written (and sung) by keyboard player Willie Alexander.

I, of course, have an opinion on the relative merits of the songs but as I run the polls for the V.U. Song Contest, I do not want to bias/influence people before they vote. But if you never heard these songs, by all means check the sound snippets when their matches are up!

argan - good job on uploading all those sounds bits, btw. Did the "squeeze" bits come from a cdr? Did you do that all yourself? I'm very impressed!

Yeah, I own a VG vinyl copy but the snippets were taken off a CD-r someone kindly gave me. I rarely play Squeeze in its entirety but four of its songs have made it onto my VU MP3 playlist :D

Yes, come to think of it we should thank arjan. It's inspiring to see someone put so much energy into something like this.
