Angus Maclise Solo CDs

Post by jimjim »

Hi all

Can anyone advise if its worth buying any Angus Maclise CDs? I'm slightly hesitant as - as much as liked certain tracks on Cale's 3 TOE CDs - I'm not so keen on totally outre avant-garde tracks e.g. some of LMY's 40 minute vocal drone tracks etc.

Hi,

I like them very much, but my taste is very unusual. Try to buy one and you will see if you want more or not. On Amazon you can listen some short samples. They can give you idea what kind of music it is.

Hi,

I bought one a few yrs ago and didn't like it at all - too loose and hippified for me (although the same could be said for LMY 40 min vocal drones and Terry Riley both of which I like a lot). I think it was the flutes that put me off. I think Angus' head was moving far away from NYC minimalism long before his body did. But I'm sure it's varied too though so check the samples, yeah.
