1993 shows in circulation

Post by tarbaby2 »

I have a number of the shows from the 1993 tour, but I was wondering about some of the others. Here is a list of the ones I have not seen in any torrent site. Does anyone know why they aren't being distributed? Are they not very good? Comments?

Velvet '93
Forum Assago, Milan, Italy - July 7, 1993

Live USA '93 [sic]
Wembley Arena, London, England - June 6, 1993

Ossi Park
Roskilde Festival, Denmark - July 1, 1993

So Happy To Be Back
Forum, London, England - June 5, 1993

Harvest '93
L'Olympia, Paris, France - June 16, 1993

If anyone has these, please share them! :)

June 6, 1993 - http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-deta ... ?id=124111
Excellent show and recording.

Roskilde has been seeded twice in the past year on Dime but I'm not sure if either are still active.

The Forum di Assago gig is worth it just for the one and only time they did "What Goes On". Although, perhaps I'm being sentimental. That's the song (the version on the 1969 album) that introduced me to the Velvets. Some up-front audience noise occasionally but the overall sound is very good, I thought.

And, anyway, they're all a memento of Sterl.

They also played it the day before in Bologna, but I have not heard that version. A good way to get the Milan show is the With Us from the Past 2CD. As for "What Goes On" on there: no organ, two solos (one by Lou, one by Sterl judging from the different approaches). Great for the guitarists, but John must've been bored stiff playing those three root notes over and over again...

Oh, and because I'm somewhat anal in these matters, some time ago I compiled a chart to tell me what song was played when on the 1993 tour. It goes like this:

(Of course data is based on Olivier's excellent 1993 gig pages.)

There are three songs that were played every night: "Some Kinda Love", "All Tomorrow's Parties" and "White Light/White Heat" (a/ka/ Lou's showcase, John's showcase and Sterling's showcase, respectively).

Thanks to everybody for the input. I've now managed to get the Wembley and Roskilde shows, but does anyone know about the others? I know they've been bootlegged, but I just haven't been able to track down any torrent of them yet.

Any further input or info on links will be greatly appreciated.

It seems strange to me that there's no good quality recording in circulation of 9 Jul 93, the final date. I'd be fascinated to hear it, if only for Satellite Of Love. Surely if it was a concert in some huge place with U2 headlining, that would make it more likely for somebody to be there with a tape recorder, not less?

I agree with Mark?s comment (above) and I was just wondering about the availability of the 1993 shows listed below. Does anyone have them or know where they can be found? I have not seen them in circulation.

June 2, 1993, The Playhouse, Edinburgh, Scotland
Audio: audience, 116 minutes, B

June 9, 1993, Ahoy' Sportpaleis, Rotterdam, Netherlands
Tape: audience DAT, 125 minutes
(Afterhours Tape #55)

June 15, 1993, L'Olympia, Paris, France
Tape: audience DAT, 135 minutes
(Afterhours Tape #57)

June 23, 1993, Stade de la Meinau, Strasbourg, France
Video: audience, 56 minutes, C+
Audio: audience, 55 minutes, B

July 4, 1993, Villa Manin, Udine, Italy
Video: audience, 101 minutes, little bottom noisy crowd, Lou rises guitarwise.

July 6, 1993, Arena Parco Nord, Bologna, Italy
Video: audience, 90 minutes
Tape: audience, 110 minutes

July 9, 1993, Stadio San Paolo, Napoli, Italy
Tape: audience, 55 minutes, very poor quality... With Bono joining in the VU for Satellite Of Love.

Any help in this will be much appreciated!

I have the following on CD-R:

June 2, 1993, The Playhouse, Edinburgh, Scotland

Forum Assago, Milan, Italy - July 7, 1993. "Velvet '93" which you mention is actually incomplete. I have the complete show, as on "With Us From The Past"

I have the complete set from The Forum, London - June 5, 1993. Again, "So Happy To Be Back" is incomplete

Harvest '93 - L'Olympia, Paris, France - June 16, 1993

You didn't mention them, but I also have complete set from The Paradiso and Glastonbury Festival ("Reformed").

I can't upload from my computer but am quite happy to burn from my CD-R's/CD's and stick them in the mail.

PM me if you are stuck for any.
