VU in Dallas '69 Question

Post by Dennis Campa »

Hello fellow Velvet Underground fans!

This is my first post, and I'm glad to be here. This is an informative group.

My wife and I are researching Dallas in the 1960s, and are fascinated by the VU footage from October 15, 1969. It's interesting that they did this show in the midst of a six night residency at the End of Cole Avenue.

The man interviewing Sterling Morrison is Stoney Burns (real name Brent Stein). He was the publisher of the underground paper The Dallas Notes (in the VU footage, he identifies himself as Stoney Burns from Notes).

(Personal note: I lived in Dallas most of the 80s, and lived really close to White Rock Lake, where this footage was filmed. I wish I knew it at the time!)

Here's my question: does anyone have a copy of Doug Yule's 69 on the Road book? I know there are some pictures of the camera operator filming the VU in the book.

Would any of you who have the book mind sharing these images of the camera operator (either here, or by email?) I'd like to see who the camera person is (that's something my wife and I are researching).

My email is shebat68@gmail.com

Apologies for the long email; thank you so much!

hi - i just saw this post.
i have the book - there are 2 pics but only one showing his face, it's not super clear, as he is in shadow and there's not much contrast:
