...the Avon 7 theater was at 724 7th Ave between 48-49 on the west side. At the south corner was the HOWARD clothing store. You can see the "RD" next to the Avon marquee on the right picture, and the "D" in back of Lou's head. The Howard store was later a Popeyes where I used to eat. Half of that block, including the Howard store and the Avon 7, has been replaced by a skyscraper called 1600 Broadway, the bottom of which is the M+M store.
