Train Round the Bend. It's a hell-no. I never understood why Lester Bangs thought it was so wonderful.

It's hard to say....
When I listen to an album by the Beatles or the Beach Boys (say), there are always tracks I have to skip as they drive me crazy.
There are some VU tracks I like less than others, but I don't think there any I'd go out of my way to avoid in the same way. I don't like The Murder Mystery a lot, but if I listen to the couch LP, I listen to it all.
I like all the tracks that have been nominated so far, even the instro Walk Right In (but not the 'Nuther View version) and dumb stuff like Lonesome Cowboy Bill.
Andy's Chest is possibly my least favourite.
I do really hate the 1985 mixes on VU generally, the 80s snare sounds, oh, why?? I truly can't bear them, my LP is nearly mint as I have hardly listened to it in 20 years.

I think Cool It Down is great - that breezy, summery feel with a nice boogiefied sort of swing to it. Last thing you'd expect from the Velvets but no worse for that.

Doctor Bob wrote:And there I was thinking "Heroin" was the greatest literary rock statement of all time...

In a lot of ways, it reminds me of the tool I was when I first started getting into the Velvets......'ooooh! decadence! Drugs! Weird SEX!'.

I tumbled for that in the way that only a straightlaced virgin could....'it's DEEP, maaaan!"

Now that I'm 40, I like 'Loaded' an assload more.....

I still want a Gretsch Country Gentleman, though....

i have to ring in and say that other than sweet jane and rock and roll, i think loaded stinks. and if it weren't for cale having been around for at least some of the writing on the third album, i'd probably feel the same about it too.
don't get me wrong, they're both good albums, but i don't think they're pure(?) velvets albums. for me, it just doesn't get any better than wl/wh.

In fairness, you couldn't get any two different albums than WhiteLight/White Heat and Loaded...
