The banana album has been re-released on CD countless times now. Is there any agreement as to which the best sounding release is?

For my money it's got to be the Deluxe edition double CD - the mono disc especially just sounds superb to me, and for some reason (anyone know why?) seems to sound much better than the mono version on Peel Slowly and See.

IMHO, the MFSL version is the best. By far!

Yeah, MSFL is the best stereo. I too prefer the mono.

Kill Mick, I think the difference you notice is because the PSAS first album is remastered stereo, not the mono.

Well it looks like I need both MFSL (for the stereo version) and the Deluxe edition (for the Mono). Then I can make up my mind which sounds better between the Stereo and Mono.

Do you think MFSL the best source for WhiteLight/White Heat also?

The mono versions first appeared "officially" on the "What Goes On" Boxset on Raven Records. But not all tracks, unfortunately.
afaik these were taken from a mint vinyl copy. The masters are lost.
