Guitar Amp

Hello good people of the Velvet Underground community

I hope you don't mind me posting on your board but I was hoping you guys and gals maybe able to help me in my quest to find a CD I am trying to get hold of as a gift for my friend.
I know she used to have this CD that I think she referred to as The guitar amp tapes or something but she lost it and I was hoping to replace it as a surprise. I have loked on amazon and elsewhere but can find nothing can any of you help by letting me know where to get it?

Any help would be gratefully received

Ladana,

The legendary (or legendaly

) guitar amp tapes is a bootleg, so isn't going to be available at Amazon.
If you visit http://www.dimeadozen.org and join you'll find several live vu recordings if you search. The legendary guitar amps recording isn't currently being seeded (shared) but the dates of the recordings are from The Boston Tea Party, 12/12/1968 and from The Boston Tea Party, 7/11/1969, for which you may find seeds. You'll need to know about downloading using torrents though. Or if not, people here may offer to trade with you or send you a copy if you pay for the blank cds and postage. Let us know where you're based in the world.

Thanks for replying...bootleg eh...that explains it!

I will pay for CD's or whatever to get a copy if anyone has one or is willing to copy it for me(I'm in Noth western England) but I need to get one ASAP. Is there no where on line I can get a copy (I don't understand this Torrent stuff as I'm a total novice) or even download it?

Grateful for any help

Good luck trying to find other VU bootleg sites Ladana, I think Dimeadozen is the only place where they're posted regulary, and you can't get access unless your a member of that site.

There are also a few things up at Piratebay.com - though not as many and of some questionable makeup (Retinal Circus).
