The VU played their first show with Moe on drums and rock and roll would never be the same.

I think the music will not be forgotten even another 40 years from now.

I only just this week heard for the first time the version of "Move Right In" from the Boston Tea party recording, its still futuristic in 2005

Shit! I'd forgotten and my sister was in NYC for her 30th birthday and all. Oh, never mind. At least my birthday in a few weeks time coincides with their 1st Warhol rehearsal!

I've mentioned this before, but I know a guy who was THERE. Kills me. He attended Summit High School at the time and he went to the show with friends. He doesn't seem to realize how big a deal it was, to him it's just like, "Yeah, I saw Lou Reed once." He did say the set was great though, they were about to go outside and have a smoke, but when the band came out, they turned right around and sat back down. They were psyched about how threatening and uncompromising the group came across in a room full of parents and students. And when the music started, people really did get up and leave, like the legend says.

Every time I take a train into NYC, it stops at the Summit station, and I never fail to think of the Velvets and that school.
