Slightly OT-Bonnie Prince Billy - What Goes On

Post by Pernod time »

I think most Velvets fans would love the new Bonnie Prince Billy record, there is an amazing version of "May you always be" which is the definately the best variation on "What Goes On" i've ever heard. The playing of the band is very "Live 69",just a fabulous record, like everything he does, he's a genius.
Its called "Summer in the South"

Yes I noticed that before,Excellent 8)

The Velvets,Bonnie and Bjork, thats the music that means the most to me, the version of "Master and Everyone " on the new live lp made me almost weep with joy when i first heard it

I haven't heard the new live album so far.
There are some bootlegs circulating. Bonnie's singing is either godlike or ... ermmm, let's call it "special".

But he never covered any VU song. Ain't that a shame?!

I think he never recorded a VU tune, because there influence on his music is already so apparent.
A recurring fantasy of mine is that Bonnie would join a reformed Velvets with Cale,Reed and Mo and possibly a chanteuse, and he would write alternate songs with Lou. Perhaps influencing Lou to write like he once did before his humour surgery.

Wouldnt that be great !

That's a good one.
Yesterday I viewed "Spanish Fly" and I discovered that Lou is wearing jogging trousers onstage....

But I will never loose my confidence that Lou will record an excellent album exactly when nobody has him on the bill anymore.

searching torrentspy.com for "bonnie prince billy" gives you the brandnew Tortoise & BPB Album "The Brave And The Bold".
Man I can tell you (talking of coverversions...), this one is packed with strange cover versions, including "Thunder Road" from Bruce. Other songs incude pieces from Elton John, Richard Thompson, Devo, The Minutemen, Melanie and others that are unknown to me....
Again, a totally unexpected work from Will, but the best since a few years!

Release Date: 30 January 2006

erm. Mods?
I think it's time to move this topic to the off-topic part of this great forum...
