Lou Tops Q Magazine Poll

Post by velvi$ »

I nearly laughed (and that hasn't happened in a while) when I saw this months Q magazine.
Lou Reed narrowly beat Sir Cliff Richard into first place of the 'Most Pathetic Rock Star' list.

My first reaction to reading this was displeasure- I mean, labeling the man responsible for "I Want To Boogie With You" as 'pathetic'?

Hmmppphhh.

But they do have a point... I mean, if not Lou, then whom? Sting? Jagger?

Heh...what were the qualifications for "pathetic?" I might have to pick up the issue!

Pathetic in this case meant something like "straight-laced" or "tame." Not "rock and roll."

If that's the case, Teddy, then they hit the nail on the head!

Agreed. Q really have gone downhill in the last 10 or so years. They used to be a cred mag with good writers & good articles but now it's nothing short of a 'lad's mag' that just happens to be about music. Sad.

No wonder all the good journos jumped ship & went to MOJO! Now that's what I call a good music mag*.

* though I'm not sure about the editor's front-page obsession with Led Zep since he took over

The sad fuckers should interview him and then he'll show them how "tame" he is

Did enjoy seeing Lou destroy Sylvie Simmons some months ago though, then they tried to avenge her by publishing a crappy reader letter attacking Reed in their next issue.

UNCUT is the best one for my money, I always find it up my street and well-written...
