Lou Reed's 80's excess uncovered...sadly enough (photo)

Post by MJG196 »

I posted this in another thread but not many people saw it. The Boston Rock'N Roll Museum site, http://www.dirtywater.com, posted this picture of local band, Aftermath. Unbelievably, the fact that Lou was in the band was not mentioned!!

He must have done this to prove he was a "Jack of all trades." I mean...that IS him on the far right, isn't it?!?! Perhaps all of those Amnesty and charity concerts made him feel like a pussy, so he needed to rock the spandex hair-metal stuff?

Heh (I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not)

That's not Lou, although there is a resemblance.

Lou was never in that band, and besides the band "Aftermath" were around for short time in 1988-9 and Lou didn't look anything like that picture in 1988, he was a lot older and he had a mullet and huge octagonal glasses.

He does have a resemblance to a Street Hassle-era Lou though.

As for Lou and Hair Metal, the closest link I can think of is the fact that Lou wrote a few songs on an obscure KISS album...

Doctor Bob, I am not sure if I believe you. That has GOT to be Lou! Look at those oversized glasses...the killer attitude...it has GOTTA be him! Lou has always had a killer Boston attitude hiding underneath his jaded NY skin. I can just see him now, prancing around onstage with a pink guitar, waggin' his tongue at the ladies!! I bet Sylvia was PISSED!

I don't care what anyone says and I don't care if the cards of reality and truth are stacked against me. I believe that Lou Reed was in the hair-metal band from Boston named Aftermath!!

As for KISS, "Music From the Elder" sucks! "A World Without Heroes" is possibly the worst KISS song EVER...and it is one that Lou co-wrote.

I like your style. You are obviously a very very very sarcastic person. Very funny :D :D :D

Regarding KISS, well I've meant to get hold of a copy of Music From the Elder for a while now to check out the Reed songs but never gotten round to it. One day I'll get back to you. I've never heard a song by Reed that I didn't like so I'd welcome the KISS record as an opportunity to finally do so!

So you've never heard most of the Arista releases or Mistrial.

Gene Simmons is the one singing and its a really comic-book type song:

A world without heroes
Is like a world without sun
You can't look up to anyone
Without heroes
And a world without heroes
Is like a never ending race
Is like a time without a place
A pointless thing devoid of grace

Wow, what a pussy! If you ever see the video...well...that may be the most pathetic video EVER!!!

mg196 you have got to be a KISS fan to know that stuff?!

I have been into KISS since I was 7 years old and never got over it. Laugh all you want!

If anyone's gonna buy one KISS album and make it The Elder though... well, that's a crime!

No they're not but Destroyer was produced by Bob Ezrin and the production values are very similar to Berlin, believe it or not. One track even features Dick Wagner on lead guitar. The Ezrin connection by the way is how Lou came to work with them on The Elder which was also produced by Ezrin.
