This month's mojo has a brief article about that acetate. The important news is that the current owner(s) is selling it. This is not verbatim as I don't have the article to hand. The jist of it is that the owner wishes someone would buy it who want to release it to the public. But the owner is also putting it up for open auction! The article ends with a gmail address to which bids should be sent.
The questions are -
If a rich collector buys it will it ever see the light of day?
If the owner wants it released then why put it up for open auction?
Does this mean that he has already offered it to Universal and been turned down? ( i guess they are the first obvious choice)
If someone did want to release it what are the legal obstacles and could they ever be overcome? Who actually owns the mechanical rights?
Anyway, its there if someone from this group wants to buy it!
haha, that would be awesome if a bunch of fanboys/fangirls bought it.
didn't they say it was supposed to sell for over 40,000? I wonder if Lou could afford it.
so is 'rosie lee' gonna start releasing the complete gymnasium tapes then? I noticed in Clinton Heylin's book that he makes references to several songs being performed (including a Sister Ray). I can only presume that this means that he's heard the tapes?
