New (?) VU anthology DVD on Ebay... .any good?

Post by Mark »

This looks rather good:

...does anyone have it? If so, any comments on the sound/picture quality as compared to what else it out there?

It's cheap enough, so I went for one. I'll let you know what the quality's like.

Is it the 30 min Symphony or the 60 min one? Ripped from the Rarovideo DVD? How about the colour EPI stuff?

It's the version without the police, so I'm assuming it's the thirty minute one. And is does have the EPI, which is just okay quality.

Sounds vaguely disappointing. Then again, the EPI film could be in PERFECT quality and you STILL wouldn't have any idea what you're watching, so what real difference does it make...

I already have it and I have to say I am very disappointed . Bad picture quality. Wrong VHS > DVD transfer (colors, shaking motion) mostly from low quality VHS copies.
SYMPHONY OF SOUND - only 1st reel. I do not have Raro video DVD for comparison, but it has visible digital drop out. Otherwise OK
EPI - terrible colors, red looks like violet...
EVENING OF LIGHT is just edited from Nico Icon
BATACLAN72 - bad b&w copy

Unfortunaly picture quality seems to be a big problem with many DVDs. EPI film on 4DVD box New York Underground is as bad as MPEG2 can be bad.

Oh, well, I won't exactly be haunting the mailbox, then... particularly since I already HAVE fair quality dubs of all of these. Thanks for the info, though! :-)

Alright, here's another one, apparently from the same seller:

Can anyone (not) recommend? Previous questions apply re length, quality etc. Oh, and who is Zubin Mehta?
