Final VU

Post by Pernod time »

I managed to acquire 5 tracks from this set, its fascinating stuff, especially a weird "Cool It Down", the audiences at the gigs seemed to be really enjoying themselves, they dont sound as if they are missing Lou :) does anyone with the set have some opinions or info on it?, is it still available, I think it was a Japanese label that released it.

Yeah, I got it. I especially like the 1971 stuff. The 1972 and 1973 really isn't the Velvet Underground but there are some gems on there too (WL/WH on disk 3 and Sweet Jane, bridge intact :!: on disk 4). Nauseef's drumming is really bad, though. But the booming version of I'm Waiting for the Man in Amsterdam... Man, wish I'd been there!

Cool It Down from the FM broadcast is wonderful. It's one of the reasons why I decided to buy a CD-R with the soundboard recordings from VPRO (of which more later).
