Yes, please!Upsetter wrote:I've also got a copy of the white label dj promo of the third album, which according to Olandem http://members.aol.com/olandem5/odlpus.html has a 'drier' mix variant of Lou's mix which is otherwise unavailable. I personally find it difficult to tell the difference. Now, easytree won't be usable for this but I'll torrent it elsewhere if people are interested?

upsetter - send me your name/address and I'll mail you the 12/12/68 2CDRs. (email me on gordon.lyon@baesystems.com) you can then copy/transfer/torrent/distribute them as needed and send me the "masters" back.
Careful with that, stuff does get lost in the mail. I've had a "mishap" here and there with trades. I'd play it safe and send a copy. Exact Audio Copy is a free download and produces perfect digital clones, no? (I haven't used it, but I think so.) Just trying to avoid anyone losing a good quality recording of a rare show...lurid_uk wrote:and send me the "masters" back.

It was a US release on the MGM subsid label Pride in 1973, it's not rare.
Credits say "produced for Reissue by Michael Viner". It's a cleaner mix of Sister Ray if that's possible - I haven't listened to it much but I remember the last 5 mins sounding a lot clearer, louder drums, more track separation. I lay on the floor with my head between the speakers at high volume - sounded great, but the version I go back to is the mono. Acoording to O's site Kostek's VU book says it's only mastered differently, but it sounds like a diff mix to me.
A bit of an oddity, though. Viner became known as something of a hotshot producer in the 70s apparently, and released a couple of LPs on Pride, as the Incredible Bongo Band.

thanks for the warning, but I'll always retain my 4th gen cassette and could re-burn it if the CDs got lost. And if worst comes to worst, I could get another copy of the cassette... (I've been trading VU and Lou Reed tapes and stuff for 20 years and have never yet had something go missing - maybe I've just been lucky).
