Used to have some friends who hated "Rock 'N Roll Animal" and "Live" because they thought it was sacrilegious for Lou to be playing with anyone but John, Sterl and Mo.
While I would have preferred a collaboration with say Sonic Youth as I never got into Metallica, what I've heard I like. I just may get into Metallica's music.
What puzzles me is some mags say that this is a *weird* collaboration? Bowie and Bing, now that's weird.
But then what do I know? I've been starving for new Lou since "The Raven." No I do not consider "Hudson River Wind Meditations."
LOUTALLICA? wtf...

The happiness I find in this collaboration is that it prepares the way for a Bob Dylan and Kiss project. I am hoping for Crime and PunnishmentMeirRachel wrote:Used to have some friends who hated "Rock 'N Roll Animal" and "Live" because they thought it was sacrilegious for Lou to be playing with anyone but John, Sterl and Mo.

set to music. They could title it "A Pawn in Our Own Game."

Gibson, you are funny but completely ridiculous. It would be Neil Young and Kiss.gibson343 wrote:The happiness I find in this collaboration is that it prepares the way for a Bob Dylan and Kiss project. I am hoping for Crime and Punnishment

I just went to the official site, clicked listen to Lulu and a page comes up with each song streamed one by one. No video, this one. I sent link to the Lou Reed forum also and they were able to listen.bobbldr wrote:Got this...

Re: LOUTALLICA? wtf...
just finished a close listen.
Pure awfulness... Will definitely not buy this in any form.
But there is one exception: If you are brave enough to listen to all the tracks chronologically, you will get to the final track, the 19min epic "Junior Dad".
This track is awesome! Awesome! Awesome!
But forget the rest!

Any impressions? I did enjoy the Velvet-esque drone of the last song, but otherwise did not care for this too much.
I am a fan of both bands and Metallica was my first concert ever in 1989. I do think that Metallica's best stuff was from '89 and prior, and for Lou, with the VU, of course.
This has received a 4 star review from Rolling Stone and some decent reviews elsewhere.
