At that price, you also know it is going to a huge fan of either Warhol or the VU...or simply Art History. I hope you aren't selling it because you HAVE to, but if that's the case then be happy it went to someone who will truly appreciate it.velvetfan wrote:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 968wt_1139

You hit the nail on the head. I HAD to. I have to make some other pretty tough decisions too. But, I'm gonna be 56, my son really doesn't have my same passion for the Velvets; I've been collecting for over 40 years, and do I really need 145 different copies of the banana album? At least this way, I can sell piece by piece, don't have to sell if I don't get the price I want and I can still enjoy what I haven't sold yet. I am worried that if something happens to me, lots of my stuff could be scrapped. God forbid.MJG196 wrote:At that price, you also know it is going to a huge fan of either Warhol or the VU...or simply Art History. Oh man, I understand completely,, I am a year behind you, got into some tough economic times and sold what I had that was not "essential", I still have everything on FLAC files, and digital pics of the artwork, so the peices still are with you. And again, my sons are not into the VU, if something happened, my collection would have ended up at "Round Again Records" across town... so cashing in is what I did (even the umpteen sealed copies of the 1968 boot that I bought for less than $7 each when they came out)... I applaud your good fortune, and rest assured, that will wind up in the hands of a FAN.

Well, guess what? I got screwed! The guy wants to return the book because he claims that when I said original bag, he assumed it was some Publishers bag with purple writing on it! He could see the photos clearly and didn't even bother to ask me any questions. Of course he contacted me and I refused and then offered him $100 for good will. He refused and filed a dispute. I've never had this trouble ever before. the guys feedback is fine and he buys books all the time. He even bought an Emily post book for $2,500.00! I did some research and it seems that eBay decides in the buyers favor about 90% of the time, plus, if I file a refusal and ask them to decide, if they don't find in my favor, I won't get my almost $100 listing/FV fees back. (I spent the money on bills so when Paypal froze the funds, I had to borrow funds from a credit card to cover the shortage!
Re: Rare, Rarest and Most Expensive VU items
Velvetfan, i sympathize with you. have been through the same thing with three different items. afew years back Feebay became buyer-friendly, dealer-not so friendly. When a buyer files a dispute, they freeze the amount of the sale until the item is returned to you. And in one of my cases, they took their sweetass time about it. in all 3 cases it was buyer's remorse, not the items being sold. And to top it all off, sellers cannot leave negative feedback for a buyer, under ANY circumstances, even if they give you a rubber check. Sorry you have to go through this, man. It sho sucks!

Re: Rare, Rarest and Most Expensive VU items
Well I came out better than I thought. After deciding not to fight it (too risky) I made a second and last offer to the guy to refund $200 and have him keep the book. He accepted and it's done. It ends up I got about $691.00 after all fees and the $200. I was happier when it was about $900 but it's done with. I'm ok; but I was freaked out this am when I couldn't get on this site. there was a problem that lasted hours and I was bumming out. I realized how much I enjoy this site, how often I visit it, how sad I would be if it were gone, and last I realized how much valuable info and goodies (Emerson project) I would never have access to. So Cudos and much appreciation the the owner of this site! Thank you sir, every day!bobbldr wrote:Velvetfan, i sympathize with you. have been through the same thing with three different items. afew years back Feebay became buyer-friendly, dealer-not so friendly. It's very rare when I come across a VU related item I have never heard of or seen, but here is one. I know it seems weird but I have no memory of this release? any details? thanks
