Hi all,
I would like to propose the next for the VU tracker. What I'm going to do is create more categories and make seperate folders for every different tour of Lou/John and others. I'm looking for a stable server to host all the FLACS and the VOB. I would like to start this project before the end of the year. Then I guess it could be nice that we start with Lou's 72/73 Transformer tour and change to the next tour every 2 weeks or so. So what I want to know is how many uploaders have interest in doing this? By uploading a torrent all of its data will remain on the server so we'll have high speeds for everyone and the data stays available for at least a few years.
It might be interesting that everyone posts his collection of this tour here and we can figure out who uploads what. So I'll start out digging out my 1972/73 Lou shows tonight and post a list a.s.a.p. I hope some of you will do the same. Let's say we start uploading at the end of October.
I propose we'll follow the tours as listed on http://www.arrakis.es/~e.miquel/rnranimal/livealiv.htm
Many greetings,

Re: http://www.velvetunderground.be
well count me in for that. I still have all the stuff I've ever uploaded to Dime, plus much more that I've not got round to transferring yet.

This is what's available on this moment. I guess it's better to wait a week or so for some more people posting their list...lurid wrote:well count me in for that. I still have all the stuff I've ever uploaded to Dime, plus much more that I've not got round to transferring yet.

Re: http://www.velvetunderground.be
I've upload everything I have from 1972. Are there some other recordings out there?
Re: http://www.velvetunderground.be
I think the only other one in circulation is Imperial College, London 21 Oct 1972. Incomplete, very poor quality, but it exists. If I upload it to Dime can you pick it up and put it on the VU tracker?
update: there's also the Edmonton Sundown show from 29 Sept 72. I previously seeded that on Dime so I will try to find the flac files and reseed it.

Re: http://www.velvetunderground.be
Hi Lurid,
I can put them up on the tracker if you want. I'll wait for those 2 shows before I start with the next year, which is 1973 if I'm correct
Many thanks and greetings,
Wim

Re: http://www.velvetunderground.be
hi Wim,
I'll try to do both at the weekend. If I include my usual selection of contemporary jpeg scans with the flac files will those also get transferred to the VU tracker?
btw can you remind me what the "announce" URL is for the VU tracker? I can easily seed there, but there are usually more "leechers" on Dime so everybody gets to download much quicker once I've seeded 100% of the files. (That's the only reason I've been favouring Dime rather than the VU tracker - it gets the stuff to more people more quickly)

Re: http://www.velvetunderground.be
Hi,
This is the announce URL: http://velvetunderground.be/announce.php
I understand why you choose DaD above the VU tracker but the VU tracker makes it easier to have a look what's available for each leecher for a specific tour/artist, the guarantee that there will always a seeder (I'm working on this with a webseeding server) and the easy central possibility to do requests.
If I see a show somewhere which hasn't been uploaded yet on the VU-tracker in the Tour Bonanza, I will upload it but It would be nice if some people can find the time to help me to share the all the work.
About the JPEG scans. I propose that we create one torrent per tour with all the scans from that tour in it. This makes it a lot easier for the users who are interested in it. It would be great if you could do this...
Looking forward to hear from you,
Wim

Re: http://www.velvetunderground.be
hi Wim,
I have the London 1972-09-29 show ready to go - I will upload it to DaD tonight. I will include some scans with it - I assume you will be able to remove these files before you put it on the VU tracker.
Re scans: I am happy to collect up all my cuttings/memorabilia scans (by year) and upload them direct to the VU tracker if you think there would be sufficient interest in that. I'll go through my collection and scan everything I think would be interesting.
I can also think of other "non year-specific" collections of scans I could upload:
Lou Reed record company Press Kits and (paper) promotional material
Lou Reed record company (other) promo photos
Lou Reed concert ticket stubs (I have 100s of these) and flyers
VU record company Press Kits and (paper) promotional material
Is anyone interested in that sort of stuff? I have most of it scanned already so it would just need to be packaged up and uploaded. (But I also have boxes of "unsorted" stuff that I will also look through just to see if there is anything really nice that I've forgotten about)
This will obviously be a longer-term task.....

Re: http://www.velvetunderground.be
Hi Lurid,
That would be great. Take your time, I'm very happy you want to contribute in this. It would be nice if we can seperate the scans for each tour. Do you have it placed in different foldersor not?
For uploading torrents...
If you create two separate torrentfiles (.torrent), one with the annouce url of Dad and one for VU, you can share on both trackers with only one spot in your torrent client of you load both .torrent-files. ?torrent, for example, just adds the tracker from the second tracker to the download from the first one. My tracker coordinates seeders and leechers from BOTH trackers automatically
. This will result in more users on the VU tracker and faster speeds, and everything stays the same for DaD.
Many greetings from Belgium...
Wim
