Opinions on Velvets DVD's

Post by cjlawlor »

I recently bought the Paul Morrissey dvd boxset from http://www.amazon.fr. The extras (my sole reason for the purchase) are a big draw for Velvets fans - good quality prints of the heavily bootlegged Scenes from the Life of Andy Warhol and Exploding Plastic Inevitable. I know it's a shame for non-Morrissey fans to have to buy a boxset just for the extras but it's worth it... although only just about worth it as it's quite expensive.

As far as other VU DVD (official and otherwise) releases go, however, I am at a loss and would be interested to hear people's views on them. The Anonymous Film Archive DVD's mentioned on Olivier's site look interesting. Has anybody seen them - are they worth tracking down? Rarovideo's forthcoming official DVD release of the Velvet Underground and Nico also looks promising.

Last year, I was thinking of getting the Raro DVDs but at 40 quid a throw I thought, FORGET IT!. The French box set costs the same and it has 4 DVDs! Rip off, I tell ya!

Yeah jimjim I completely agree with you about Rarovideo. I'd expect them to charge a bit more seeing as they are independent and everything but their prices are crazy.

I have all those vids on VCDs including The Velvet Underground And Nico (aka Symphony Of Sound), Moe In Bondage, and Nico's Frozen Warning video all ripped from dvds with excellent picture/sound - for sale. contact dwills@joimail.com
