the site says
"Originally broadcast by Channel 4 On UK TV on 11th December 1993. As this was broadcast overnight I had to use a 4 hour video on long play to record the whole 8 hours so the quality isn't brilliant but it's ok and, luckily, hasn't deteriorated since 1993."

Hem!
I'll bet this is the DVD set that a fan in Australia made (Matthew? can't remember his name off hand), from original broadcast vhs tapes loaned by lurid_uk, with me as the middleman, that was distributed on the JimJims Yahoo group last year.

What's the deal with BootlegZone? Just a reference source, or a front for some commercial angle? The packaging looks nice, but either way, the best way to get this DVD would be to join Jimjims and ask politely.

I've seen bits of this on p2p.....with Japanese sub-titles.

The 'Sunday Morning" film-IMHO-sux rocks: it's introduced as a rare live track but it's just the VUAN version with some looped sound to pad out the film. Cool to see performance footage but.....yeesh!

I remember that I used 2 x 4hr high quality video tapes to capture this back in 1993, and quality wasn't that bad at all. As well as the transfer that Simon facilitated, it was also transferred by a Spanish fan - maybe it's that transfer that was used as the source for the DVD set.

*ahem* yes, that is a good idea. I think - but I'm not 100% certain - the address is...http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jimjims/

20 years later, but realised that the Curious documentary doesn't appear to be on YouTube, so I uploaded my original rip from VHS tape - including the various links from Debbie Harry and the other musicians talking about what the VU meant to them

Thanks for posting this! Even though the 'famous person talks about less famous cult band' documentary is among my least favourite genres, it's been years since I've seen this.

Hello folks!

By any chance, does anyone have the Redux film outtake of The Gift from the Channel 4 special? Can't find it anywhere!!

Many thanks!

yes, I think so. I'll put a link below to 4 x .mpg files which cover parts of the Channel 4 special - file #2 is "The Gift". They were transferred from VHS many years ago by a friend of mine who wishes to remain anonymous.

BUT when I try to play them on my PC using vlc, they don't play all the way through. Not sure if it's a problem with my pc or what......let me know if you can play them ok.

Here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/fo08jvpu ... fk1ha&dl=0

Separately, another friend of mine is going to try to transfer my old VHS tapes of the whole thing - if he manages to do that then I'll post a link to the results here......
