New AAA pressing of VU&N

Post by iaredatsun »

I wonder whether anyone here would even need this, but -

All analogue 180gm pressing VU&N with traditional sleeve Stoughton style tip-on sleeve.

Looks like it's only available through the USA shop, at the moment.

Wonder whether it will have the tape-damage at the start of SUnday Morning that all copies seem to have had since the 80s.

Forgive my ignorance/poor memory but can you remind me about the "tape damage"? Was it audible on original LP pressings or on the original 45?

It seems to have appeared in the 80s. Not on 60s or 70s pressings. But the recent MQA encoded Japanese CD does not have the damage. The damage is right at the start of Sunday Morning. It’s brief and not exactly ruinous.

Do you mean the noise that sounds like an extremely dirty needle at the beginning? I remember being unpleasantly surprised by it having a listen to a new copy not long ago.

Yes something like that. A kind of ‘crumpling’ sound. It doesn’t really bother me that much.
