As i said in a previous thread what commonly passes as Oct 68 show is misdated and is actually one of the March 1969 shows.
For instance Doug had only just joined the band in late September 68, we have been made to believe that within a couple of weeks at most the band had songs like I Can't Stand It, Foggy Notion ans Story of My Life already in their set list.
I have seen (and heard some of) Jamie's tapes and the Oct 68 set is different than what is commonly referenced as the show.
They were playing Story of My Life when Cale was still in the band. Since we dont have any summer or fall 1968 recordings we cannot know, but it would not surprise me if they were also paying those other two as well as more of the material on the 3rd album
I was mistaken re: Foggy Notion. From my notes:
Oct 4 1968 - La Cave
1. Tuning
2. What Goes On
3. Waiting for the Man
4. Pale Blue Eyes
5. Foggy Notion
6. Heroin
7. Beginning To See The Light
8. Jesus
9. Venus In Furs
10. Sister Ray

One of my copies of the October 4 1968 gig has the tracks in exactly that order, and includes the tuning/mic checking stuff that may other copies don't have. The only difference is that it also includes what I assume is the misdated "October 26, 1968" version of What Goes On between Beginning To See The Light and Jesus. I got this copy circa 1982. Another copy I got at around the same time has the track ordering as per Olivier's site and the Problems In Urban Living boot and doesn't have the tuning bit or the extra WGO. I assume that the track order was rejigged slightly at some point by somebody in order to better fit on a cassette.
I also got a cassette copy with this tracklisting back in 1982 or so, at a local record fair iirc - it was dated "Oct 1968". It didn't have the "extra" WGO on it - I got that later from a different source.

This is very interesting information. If you have 1st hand knowledge of these dates then it would be useful if you passed it on to Olivier Landemaine so that he can update his web page.

I have tried before - no reply.
Somewhere i have the track lists written down too. Let me find them this week
Announcement [at top of page]:
"Stranger, and more startling musical images are created by the Velvet Underground headlined tonight through Sunday [=Apr.26-28] at La Cave cafe, 10615 Euclid Avenue.
This avant garde quintet from New Yorks Greenwich Village rooms is often described as a pacesetter in dynamie hard-rock sounds."
Advert [at bottom]:
"tonight thru Sunday [= Apr.26-28] - The Velvet Underground [Verve recording artist] - La Cave"
I don't think that there is any doubt that they played at La Cave April 26 -28 1968. If Jamie's cassette is labelled 30th April then that is obviously a mistake.
I'd be very interested to see the track listings for his other La Cave recordings.
It's amazing that only 364 people were prepared to pay $3 to see the Velvets on a Saturday night in Cleveland! And it must have been a quiet Sunday night with only 43 folks in the audience.....
