Age, or ability level is not our main priority - training & guidance can be given to a serious, willing student - what's most important is having someone who is totally committed, like the rest of our members (who are all life-long VU obsessives).
We were recently let down by our previous drummer, just at the point where we began planning to shoot a promotional video and start the campaign ball rolling; reaching out to promoters, potential venues, the Warhol museum, and other parties of interest for their involvement, sponsorship, or general assistance etc.
I know that there are some who feel that a VU tribute (or a tribute show based on any band, for that matter) is a cringe-worthy concept - to anyone of that disposition, may I offer some words of assurance:
Nobody wants to see a gimmicky, lacklustre attempt of a VU tribute - the way I see it, is that if you aren't fully competent and able to transcribe someone else's art faithfully, recreating the nuance and charm that makes it so special in the first place, you should either leave it alone, or reimagine it entirely and make it YOUR own. I was stood (as Lou) in the pocket between our previous 'Moe', and 'Sterling', with the throb of the drums and amplifiers going through me, and I guarantee you, the SOUND that we all love, was there.
The attention to detail not only in the music performance, but in the choice of instruments & equipment, live sound setup, and stage presentation, will be like no attempt ever made before. The format we plan to do would be two-sets; one called "New York, 1967" (combining material from the Dom era, up to the last EPI shows at the Gymnasium), and a "Boston, 1969" set.
There will be no wigs - my YouTube videos were just a bit of fun, because let's face it, four simultaneous shots of me looking the same would have been rather dull!
We will be ourselves, but - for anyone who wasn't alive, or never got the chance to see the VU - if we can find the right drummer, we intend to make it so that if you squint your eyes, and feel that sound hitting you...for a moment, you might just be able to forget!

Velvet UnderSound; an authentic Velvet Underground tribute group based across London/Essex, are looking for a female drummer to complete their lineup, and play the part of Maureen 'Moe' Tucker.
Moe was a self-taught percussionist with an intuitive sense of time & dynamics, who developed a unique style of playing from a standing position, that distinguished her from other rock drummers of the '60s.
We are working on recreating the famous 'Exploding Plastic Inevitable' multi-media shows the group did in collaboration with Andy Warhol, for a modern audience, and we need a relentless drummer to drive the intense performance of songs like 'Venus In Furs', 'Heroin', 'I Heard Her Call My Name' and 'Sister Ray', while the incredible light show rages all around us!
What's most important is less ability, and more that you are passionate about the music of The Velvet Underground, keen to adopt this role, and faithfully recreate the spirit of Moe's playing - training/guidance can be provided for an enthusiastic beginner-level player.
The band are committed to getting this project to the stage, and need someone who is equally committed and motivated.
The music is exhilarating to play, and the project is a lot of fun and has significant potential. If you feel you are able to commit the time to join, and help us see this vision into fruition, we'd love to hear from you!

A vintage Premier drum kit - as seen in Cam's YouTube cover videos - is available for use at rehearsals/shows, although having your own equipment - especially for home practice - would be preferred.
Having your own transport would also be beneficial, though the band rehearse in East London at Engine Rooms Studios, which is easily reachable via tube/bus.
