I think you must mean the July 69 one that MartinVU voted for, but I'd somehow overlooked that there are two BTP recordings of Run Run Run, plus Hilltop, and only listened to the January one, plus Gymnasium and Valleydale. I might have to retract my vote, and I'll need more time if I'm gonna get through the rest of the tracks too!peppergomez wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022 19:39There's a really long version from Boston tea party in 68 I think that is absolutely ferocious and the best version I've heard Lou sounds possessed both in his solo and singing.searchin4mymainline wrote: ↑04 Nov 2022 00:01 Run Run Run: I'll go with Gymnasium. It's a bit uneven, but it has got some real high points and is a better quality recording than BTP, which would be the other contender for me.

Re: VU live bests
What album or bootleg are you sourcing that from?Slightly tongue in cheek, but isn't the definitive version of I'll Be Your Mirror the "fuzz guitar overload" one from the Dom in April 66? The only live version sung by Nico, although the fact that it's virtually unlistenable detracts from it a bit!
Ditto for this. The only BTP set I know of from '68 is Dec. 12, and I don't see any version of "Run Run Run" on there. There's a really long version from Boston tea party in 68 I think that is absolutely ferocious and the best version I've heard Lou sounds possessed both in his solo and singing.

As far as I know it's never been released on a commercial bootleg, but it's the first couple of minutes of this:Sheila Klein wrote: ↑06 Nov 2022 22:09What album or bootleg are you sourcing that from?Slightly tongue in cheek, but isn't the definitive version of I'll Be Your Mirror the "fuzz guitar overload" one from the Dom in April 66? There are also more details on the Live 1965-66 page of Olivier's site. One for completists only,

Note sure, VU sound very rough and dirty on it, whereas by late 69 they had begun cleaning up their sound a little bit IMO. If I had to guess I'd say late 68 early 69 but just a guess.

If you're trying to make your point more clear, it's not working. And if you can't be clear there's little point in posting to this thread, as there's no way I can include your nominations if I can't locate or understand them.Note sure, VU sound very rough and dirty on it, whereas by late 69 they had begun cleaning up their sound a little bit IMO. I'll Be Your Mirror (fuzz-guitar overload version) comes from the same Dom performance as the 28 minute Chic Mystique. Unlike Chic Mystique, it does not seem to have ever been released on an album. Olivier's site says that it comes from the film Scenes From The Life Of Andy Warhol by Jonas Mekas. Source is the Mekas DVD New York Underground 68-72 or Chelsea Girls Raro Video DVD, which includes Scenes From The Life Of Andy Warhol. I could do a rip from my copy of Chelsea Girls, if it helps.

26 minutes, although the Mekas film soundtrack seems to be 28 minutes. Could the extra minutes be the length of I'll Be Your Mirror?iaredatsun wrote: ↑07 Nov 2022 12:18 I'll Be Your Mirror (fuzz-guitar overload version) comes from the same Dom performance as the 28 minute Chic Mystique.

Re: VU live bests
Thank you for clarifying. Is the "I'll Be Your Mirror" version on YouTube at all? In not then it'd be great if you could make the copy for me after all.
Re: VU live bests
The YouTube link I shared has I'll be You Mirror right at the very start, not hard to edit it out with online tools. I've not heard a better quality version but the one on the Chelsea Girl DVD might just beat it.

Re: VU live bests
Thanks to iaredatsun and Kill Mick for helping me access the version of "I'll Be Your Mirror." Upon listening to the long noise jam that follows it on the respective sourcefiles I realize that that's the same recording that's elsewhere been titled "Chic Mystique."
Do we know where and when that was recorded? I've seen it variously labeled as from the Psychiatrists Convention of Jan. '66, and one of the Dom shows of that April.
Am I correct in believing that it was first disseminated in one of Jonas Mekas' films? It's known that he at least shot the Psychiatrists Convention, but I don't believe he ever shot sync sound. And even if we crack the source of the noise jam, I don't think it's safe to assume that "I'll Be Your Mirror" is from the same performance.
Does anyone know of definitive information on these matters?
