Great find! I have long wondered if this footage still existed after I saw the still shot of Sterling being interviewed on film in Doug Yule's book of 1969 photos! Even better that the camera also captured them on stage. If only he/she'd filmed for a bit longer....

Thanks a lot Aral. Its amazing :shock: I knew there should be something more than just The Tincher Family Collection footage because photo in '69 on the Road with Sterling at interview with camera. Now we finally have it.

Extraordinary find! Did anyone else spot Doug sitting just out of shot next to Sterling?

There's also the second video of film offcuts, linked through from the first YouTube video. All silent, but more bits of the VU playing and Lou talking on camera. The audio was obviously taped separately - probably too much to hope that it survived in full!

just watching that footage again I'm struck by the simplicity (naivity?) of the whole situation back in 1969. those folks weren't to know that they'd have another 5 or 6 years of Vietnam, Nixon/Watergate, Carter/Iran, Reagan, then the 90s, Iraq 1 and Iraq 2, etc etc. The whole world seemed a lot simpler back then....
