In fanzine What Goes On someone mentioned that he filmed VU at late 1966. It was in The Best Of 1 & 2 or Issue 4, but I dont have them around to check.
And there is still a short beautiful color footage used in RnR Heart documetary with Nico and Cale. No idea where it is from, probably some TV b/cast
I always wondered about that short piece of colour footage of nico in the Lou documentary. Is it from the "merry pranksters" piece mentioned above?
I dont think so. Check these photos
https://www.sfchronicle.com/chronicle_v ... o-15887164
and compare with footage.
1. Nico has white shirt at SF photos vs. black on footage
2. Microphone is white, maybe silver at SF vs. black / dark on footage
3. Cale has sunglasses at SF and no moustache vs no sunglasses and moustache on footage
4. Footage looks like from balcony, but I cant see any balcony at SF Fillmore

I remeber someone was able to recognize female voice introducing VU on footage, but Im not able to find the post.

“Upbeat” episodes didn’t premiere everywhere at once. They would debut their episodes in Cleveland (where the show was produced) immediately after its completion, and would then mail the master tapes from station to station over the course of several months to cover the rest of the country. By looking at the Yardbirds’ and the VU’s touring history, it is 100% certain that “‘Upbeat’ 1968” was produced and debuted in late April, 1968 but didn’t make it to Conrad’s region until 1968. As I mentioned in another thread on this site, everything the Velvets did on “Upbeat” was wiped, so Conrad’s tape is our last hope with this. The only problem is that I have no idea where it is. I heard that all of Conrad’s VU stuff went to John Cale. Is that true?

The Michigan State Fairgrounds Mod Wedding Nov 20, 1966 was filmed at least twice. For local Tv (Taxine found years ago the Website offering the footage) and according to the Fifth State Newspaper Dec 1966 Warhol camera "was recording he event for presentation to the bride and groom"...

From top of my head there are several early 66 pictures where we can see cameras shooting the VU.

I found online scan of WGO4 and it was filmmaker Wheeler Winston Dixon, see page 18
