Just compared the FLAC and mp3s of the 'Warhol CD' with CD1 of Dispatches From the Dream Factory. Seems to me that Dispatches is louder and clearer. Is it the same thing with processing? I can't tell.
But seem to me that the 'Warhol CD' version of Miss Joanie Lee runs a few seconds (7s) slower than the Dispatches version. For all we know the 'Warhol CD' copy as gone through an analogue process as the torrent says.
Here's some comparisons with spectrographs of both channels combined.
The track is Miss Joanie Lee, order is Warhol CD FLAC/Warhol CD mp3/Dispatches FLAC. Waves and spectrographs.
I'll upload the Dispatches FLACs later tonight and post link tomorrow. Dispatches only has five tracks from the Warhol CD but I'll post the whole thing.
Thanks in advance for "Dispatches", and apologies for the fact that nobody can log on to brigidpolktapedtheworld. I honestly thought people would be able to and that I was reminding people it was available. I still don't understand why I can log on though, maybe coz I've been doing so every so often just to keep an eye on it?
Interestingly "Miss Joanie Lee" on the VU & Nico Super Deluxe is a few seconds shorter, so presumably plays faster, than the 'Warhol Tapes' version as well. Maybe it's the same as the 'Dispatches' one?
After a brief listen to the flac 'Warhol Tapes', it does sound better than the mp3 to me, but it might just be my imagination. I just think it sounds clearer, e.g. the tambourine on "I'll Be Your Mirror" seems more audible. Having said that, it seems to have those 2 second gaps after each track? That's not a complaint, just an observation.
Sorry ? I'm not sure why the FLAC files are so large for a single CD. I started to rip my own copy of the original CD and they were coming out exactly the same size. So these are the FLACS originally made and posted by another member of the forum.
I remember that both the "original source" of ATP bootleg (meaning the one described as the torrent on page 1, or the "FLAC" version) and the "MP3 version" (which was the original CD issue made from Rosie's MP3s) were very similar in sound, but the "original source" had more hiss which was visible in the spectrum as the presence above the cut-off, and the MP3 one sounded a tad duller, maybe just because of the missed hiss. Did not find any clues to the "original source" being a tape copy of the MP3 version or not, but I did not spend much time on research either. I know two things: 1) there is certainly MP3 somewhere in that lineage; 2) Tracks 1-11 on both discs look in the spectrum like from different sources, while the remainder look like from the SAME lossy source. When I got the "original source", I checked the whole thing track-by-track with EAC spectrum analyzer versus the "MP3 version". I see that iaredatsun used other software, not EAC, and it shows spectra of both sources to be virtually the same, with all the emptiness above the cut-off point - a bit strange IMO, maybe I should install that software too and use both, but EAC did show a different picture.

It's completely OK, single CD may take size above 500 Mb in FLAC.
OK, I think I've figured out the lineage of these tracks.
When Rosie Lee originally posted the mp3 files of the tracks on this forum, the "Blues Instrumental" (Track 7) was incomplete for some reason - it was only about 2 mins long if I remember correctly, as opposed to 5 mins plus. Somebody who was close to the band and had a different copy of the tracks kindly posted the full length version of "Blues Instrumental" on here so we would have the full set. That explains why it sounds different - louder and clearer but with more hiss - to the other tracks. The flac version of this set must therefore be a copy of the mp3 files that were posted on here (e.g. a lossless copy of lossy tracks) as otherwise why would it include the full length version of "Blues Instrumental"? The mp3s must be the original source rather than the flacs. The only other explanation is that the flacs are the original source but for completeness "Blues Instrumental" was replaced on this copy by the full length mp3 from this forum, which just seems highly unlikely to me.
Interestingly, "Blues Instrumental" sounds to me much more like the versions of the tracks that appear on 'Dispatches From The Dream Factory' (louder and clearer but with more hiss) and I strongly suspect that they are sourced from the same copy. I therefore think 2 copies of the Factory Rehearsal from 'All Tomorrow's Parties: Remembering the Velvet Underground' exist - the 'Rosie Lee Tapes' with the edited version of "Blues Instrumental", which were originally posted on this forum, and the 'Alternative Copy' with the full length version of "Blues Instrumental (again origianlly posted here) which was used as the source for 'Dispatches'.
I was off the Forum for a couple weeks and am catching up now. I had a computer with my original Rosie Lee tapes die on me. (The Rosie Lee saga was a lot of fun back then.) Is there any way someone would email me the files again direct via WeTransfer? My email is velvetfan@aol.com thanks
