velvet underwear

Post by drshll »

Hi velvetlovers

A few friends and I have e new band, a VU coverband called the velvet underwear.
We are 2 girls on guitars and vcvals, and two boys on drum and bass and vocals.
I'd like to know if there are VU coverbands in the States, and if there is any possibillity to play over there..., I mean, does anyone know a place in NYC for instance where we could play?

you could mail me here: hlibbersxxxtakexawayxxx@xs4all.nl
Greetings

That's a little bit more information than any of us wanted to hear....

In a good way, or in a bad way?

I've never come across a VU cover band, although some folks on the board were trying to get one together within the past year or so. There are millions of bands that do VU covers, but not exclusively as far as I know. As for where to play, nobody in New York is going to hire you without hearing you. You'd have to make it over here, and then make the rounds and see what you can make happen, or put together a demo and circulate it. It ain't gonna be easy, New York probably isn't the place to start.

I'd also advise that "Velvet Underwear" sounds more like a parody/novelty act rather than a faithful cover band.

Good luck!

I've seen two different VU covers bands in Helsinki, Finland - not "pro" though, I think both were put together for just those particular shows.

Sounds great, I'd love to cozy up to an evening of live Velvet covers sometime. Don't see it happening anytime soon, though... :?
