The Pittsburgh CD ("All Tomorrow's Parties") banned on dime?

I downloaded this one and they've banned it b/c it's allegedly a lossy version:

Hey Low,

I am the one who posted that show. I am 100% sure there was no conversion to MP3. If there is lossiness, then it is in the lineage prior to the original Museum CD.

Again, I am 100% certain that there is absolutely nothing lossy in the lineage between those flac files and the Museum CD.

Actually, let me say that I just noticed someone else upped the show to Dime that I had posted on HungerCity.org. So, I am only vouching for the HungerCity version.

Actually the HungerCity torrent gives the same kind of frequency analysis as those posted on the banned Dime torrent. All except track 7, funnily enough. That's the one provided by Sal when Rosie realised she didn't have it. To my untrained eye, the analysis seems to indicate a hiss filter has been applied to the tracks from about 14khz upwards. As I say, this is on the tracks as uploaded to HungerCity, I'm not getting them mixed up with Rosie's MP4s. I'm guessing that something happened to the recording before it reached MG196... If I could post my frequency analysis I would, but I'm having a bit of a brainfart 2day and don't seem to be able to save it as something attachable.

I didn't noticed that, but yes, the 7th track sound is different from the others. It has more noise and hiss, but also a clearer sound. A very slight and sharp sound, like when you turn on an analogic TV, can be heard all through this track, and not in the other tracks...

Track 7 has a spike in the frequency somewhere around 16khz. I believe that can happen when a recording is made too near to a working TV or monitor!

Yeah, you're right. When I used to record LPs into tapes for my walkman, I had to check that the TV next to my turntable was off, b/c if it was on an annoying sound like that was recorded into the tape as well. It seemed like the needle catch that interference...

There is a tremendous irony with this recording being banned.

There is a bootleg of these same tracks in practically unlistenable form: The "At the Warhol Museum" bootleg has been widely circulated and would be permitted on this site (according to all the rules). However, it was made by someone walking around the Warhol Museum during a reception! So, not only can you barely hear the music, but you also get an earful of Museum patrons! No, the Museum plays a "lossy" CD over its speakers, it is recorded by a patron, and it would be permitted here, where a duplicate of the ACTUAL disc that was being played is NOT allowed.

Exceptions to some of the rules should be made when a recording of this caliber/rarity is posted.
