Been trying to collect Lou Reed/VU covers and tributes ala the After Hours 2 tape set that just made me hungry for it.
Found a cd of the group Suicide doing 'Sister Ray Says' and it's credited only to Alan Vega.
Who is Alan Vega - Hy Weiss?? Tried to tie that in to the last fascinating thing I read on the forum.
Anyway I'm surprised Lou doesn't get credit as it sounds more like Sister Ray than the New Order's live improv cover on BBC1 cd. Does anyone know of any must have covers? I have a few like Dr Mix & The Remix or the True Believers doing Foggy Notion live.
Alan Vegas was the lead singer in an electro-industrial band from the 70s called Suicide.

Lou Reed, 'Sweet Jane', 1970
House of Love (UK indie band from late 80s-early 90s) - I Can't Stand It
Spiritualized - Why Don't You Smile (okay strictly not a VU track but they must be fans to have recorded this pre-VU rarity)
Bowie - Waiting.. (get the v.rare studio version he did in 1967 - yes, 1967! - which appears on withdrawn semi-legal 'The Forgotten Songs of David Robert Jones')
Kathryn Willaims - Candy Says (the latest cover of all - from her most recent album this year)
Voice of The Beehive - Jesus (from a BBC Radio session CD, late 80s)
Cowboy Junkies - Sweet Jane (great cover of the 'Live 1969' version)
