Boston Tea Party 4 CD Set

Post by tarbaby2 »

I just saw this on Olivier's site. Does anyone have any more information about it? Does anyone have a copy yet? How does it sound, etc.?

Looks like yet another Japanese bootlegger grabbed those shows (widely available) and is now bootlegging them. No big deal.

Just a thought, weren't a record company producing a Boston Tea Party gigs edition as part of the bootleg series? I seem to remember that they had been prepared - perhaps someone has managed to get hold of a copy..

Alternatively the bootleggers have decided to get in there quick while Lou etc still have their legal wrangles.

I don't recall seeing them, either. Notice how Lou and Moe have their arms intertwined? Cute! I happen to like the coloring, though!

That hand coluring makes them look like they should be called 'The Red Underpants"

I've never seen those pictures before either.

The Boston Tea party shows were scheduled to feature as part of the "Bootleg Series" before the Quine tapes surfaced - I understand that the original tapes had been mastered and were ready to go. These could indeed be from that source. It's odd that the 12/12/68 show isn't included, whereas the 15/3/69 show is. I believed that all of the Boston tapes, with the exception of 15/3/69) were made by "the professor", so it's strange to see a mix like this.

Before we get too excited, remember that the originals were never really top quality recordings - they'll never compare well with soundboard recordings, even if the bootleggers had access to the "officially remastered" versions. I doubt if they are a huge improvement over the copies of these shows which already circulate.

Nice pics though, and always nice to see "unseen" pictures.
