MONDO ALMIGHTY compilation DVD's - Needs a Lou or VU series!

Post by MJG196 »

For anyone who isn't into Johnny Thunders, fyi there is a "Mondo Almighty" 19 DVD compilation of classic Thunders performances, from late-night television performances to lousy recordings made from the back row of a club. The collection has TONS of ultra-rare footage. Apparently, a dude had been selling these discs, but now it is out there, free for public consumption, which so many of us are forever thankful.

Why can't we do this with our Lou Reed footage?! So many of us have stuff here and there, clips of shows from the 70's, commercials, Don Kirshner...why can't we start gathering the stacks of videotapes that are rotting and make a definitive, multi-disc compilation?

If anyone out there wants to get it started, let the board know and we can start mailing you our tapes! I would happily donate my tapes to a respected member of the board.

Just throwin' it out there! I'd love for the Houston '74 syringe-onstage performance to circulate! (it aint pristine quality by any stretch)

I'm with MG on this one. I also have the Houston 74 segment (including part of "NY Stars" in dire quality) as well as a pile of other stuff (ie St Cyprien 77, Eindhoven 78 and Toronto 78 in silent colour from 8mm films) etc etc......

I already have some of this on DVD but even more that has not yet been transferred

I agree, video is needed.Would have been up for doing the DVD's , I have got decent at making dvds after doing two wedding transfers. But, I have a baby on the way.
I don't have the time to lend, I ahve nursery to get ready.
However, I can lend dvd authoring software if needed. Most videos I have are pretty common. I do have a lot of tonight show/late show/bravo tv appearances.

Video should contain a disclaimer that if you bought it on ebay you got screwed and should report the seller to ebay.
"Aw, You shouldn't do that. Don't you know you'll stain the carpet?"

This would be great! I'm dying for more '70s Lou footage. I have to contribute a DVD of Lou in Paris and Brussels in '74 and doing a TV show preformance in '80 (which I got from eBay). I also have footage of some '80s concerts like the Roskilde Festival in '84 and Barcelona '84 but I downloaded these from DIME so I'm sure many of you have them. I also have a collection of Lou's music videos from the '80s (they're so corny, they're awesome) -- think "I Love You Suzanne" and "My Red Joystick" -- which I downloaded from Demonoid.

So whoever wants to organize this (I would volunteer but I'm not tech savvy enough to convert VHS to DVD), I'd be happy to send DVDs of the aforementioned shows to you. Just let me know! I'm really dying to see the footage of the Rock 'n' Roll Heart tour (I know there's a silent 8mm film out there somewhere) and the Houston syringe show!

VHS transfer

I just started to digitalize my own VHS collection. If there would be an interest I can transfer some your VHSs. I use external analog-digital convertor Canopus ADVC-300. After testing some another convertors I have to say this one works best.

What is easiest to work with? NTSC or PAL? Of course, I choose NTSC. All my recordings are NTSC.
