Velvet Undergroudn and the Simpsons

Post by Guest »

Hi, I'm a big Velvets fan and i had a small inquiry.

I've been seeing that picture of the Velvts from the Simpsons for ages (or whatever it really is) and i've been wondering if they actually were featured like that on the Simpsons. I know there's refrences to them in certain episodes, but actually seeing them as characters in an episode? I was just wondering if this was so.

Anyway, thanks, Bye

I'm pretty sure the VU have never featured on the Simpsons; It could make a good Grandpa Simpson flashback story maybe... I don't know where the yellow VU illustration came from.

Never, not even a vague reference that could be construed as a reference to the band.

There's been ONE hilarious Lou Reed reference. I think it was at Duff Gardens, but it was one of the show's various amusement parks. Basically, some generic, bland, 'wholesome', teenage vocal group at the park puts on a show and they perform their own version of "Walk On The Wild Side." You only hear one say, "Hey, take a walk on the wild side!" then its cut to all of them doing that hokey routine of switching your hands off on your knees, and they sing the scat part of the song.

I thought it was a half-time show at some football event (the superbowl?), and the aliens came out of a space ship that landed mid-field and announced that they had travelling across the galaxy to bring you this half-time production, then they somebody said "take a walk on the wild side . . . and all the races go do doo do..." which was the funny part, changing 'coloured girls' to 'races' for television broadcast.

And the episode (I think it's the one with Marge bowling) where you can see the banana album on a pawn shop shelf.

No, the half-time show in the Super Bowl episode was a "Rock Around the Clock."
