Mistrial and Legendary Hearts, should you buy them? Well, it's getting pretty obvious that if you ask me, yes. Where with the live stuff it's hit and miss (Rock'n'Roll Animal, Animal Serenade: great, Perfect Night Live In London: not so great, Take No Prisoners, well... make up your own mind!), I think all of Lou's studio albums are worth getting. Some of them are more inspired than others but his songwriting is still there most of the time.
Mistrial is easily the most controversial album among fans as most tend to hate it for the "totally '80s" production. Even so, I don't think it's his worst, and some of the songs are great as proven by later live versions ("Tell It To Your Heart"!). Also I think it's actually good fun (again!) to hear Lou in such a light weight guise as in "No Money Down". I mean in the end, it's just music, maybe not all of it is meant to be take so serisouly?! So in a way, the Rock And Roll Heart of the '80s! Some of the tracks are pretty hideous though, even for a die hard fan like myself...
Legendary Hearts is like The Blue Mask part II. If you know and like that album there's no way you can hate Legendary Hearts. Maybe it's not quite as adventurous (there's nothing like the title track or "The Gun" from the previous album) but mostly it's very similar. Standout tracks would be "Martial Law" and "The Last Shot".

These are always rather silly questions. Everyone has different opinions of music. Homme may like Mistrial, but as everyone here knows...I am repulsed by it. I think it is one of the most awful discs I have ever spent money on. Should you buy them? I don't know. Should you?The Bells wrote:Should I buy them?
Do yourself a favor and try out the albums and formulate your own opinions. You'll be much happier that way!

How patronising! Just asking for advice, that's all.mg196 wrote:These are always rather silly questions. Everyone has different opinions of music. Would you like to supersize that? The Bells wrote:How patronising! Just asking for advice, that's all.

Evolution, I believe that the scripts in any fast food commercial outdo the lyrics found on Mistrial any day of the week.

You might be on to something there!
