Live At End Cole Avenue

Post by thekiddrinkingfire »

hello...I have fairly recently become a really big fan of the velvet underground and have been trying to get as much music as I possible can! I was recently sent a live album called 'Live At End Cole Avenue' whcih was spread over two cds, track listing is:

I'm Waiting For The Man
It's Just Too Much
I'll Be Your Mirror
Some Kinda Love
Femme Fatale
Beginning To See The Light
I'm Set Free
Afterhours
I'm Sticking With You
One Of These Days
Pale Blue Eyes
Ocean
What Goes On
Heroin

Second disc:
Sister Ray
Lisa Says
Rock 'n' Roll
Blue Velvet Jazz Jam

Seems to be a mix of the 1969 album and some other tracks.....The versions of Lisa Says and Rock n Roll are just really different to the rest of the stuff....acoustic and the rest of the band singing..lisa says sounds quite 'beatlesy'...and rock n roll is just lou and mo.....really good.

Anyway I just would like to know if anyone have any information about this...I think it may be a mistake by the person who sent it me....says it was recorded on the 10/18/69...any info?

You can find some info here: http://members.aol.com/olandem/bootcd.html
On a related note, after reading about this boot, I'm wondering if there has been talk about releasing everything they have from those shows. And where do the last three tracks come from?

I'm pretty sure that's Doug singing with Mo on Rock and Roll. Definitely Lou on Lisa Says. Pick up First Night for more of the same.
On a side note, my copy of First Night has several "glitches" /anomalies on the track Jesus. The guy I got it from said it's on his copy too. Anyone know if all the copies making the rounds right now are like that?

I have a silver factory pressed CD version of The First Night. It does indeed have digital distortion at 0.51 / 1.06 / 1.44 / 1.49 / 2.03 / 2.19 / 3.00 / 3.18. There is also a very small gap in the recording at 0.44

There is also a digi glitch on Story of My Life - shame they didn't take care to master it better.

Hmmm... I have The First Night silver disk. Off the top of my head I can't remember there being any glitches on the disks. Are these glitches confined to "Jesus". I can take a listen later and report back.

Bleach: that's pretty much how I would describe the disc I have.
Rob: that would be great if you could check into that and report back. I've been curious about the quality of the master(s) in existence. Perhaps only some of the silver discs are defective.

Rob reporting back. So I had a listen and it turns out that my version does have the glitches including one on Story of My Life. Shows how reliable my memory is. So then, who's got a tape?

I got this whole show from the following link -- which I think is dead now: http://server.vandervlis.nl/henry/ban/banlinks.htm

But it was all one RealPlayer (rm) file and did not have the final three cuts listed above.

It's not too bad, but since it is one file it is too big to burn onto a CD so I can't listen to it anywhre except from my computer.
