Cowboy Junkies - Sweet Jane should surely be mentioned, even Lou expressed his appreciation for it.
Apart from that I really like:

The House of Love - I Can't Stand It (it's on a CD single)

Great Great Guitar battling

What about opening a velvet underground cover account somewhere (gmail/yahoo), so we can hear the unknown covers?
I really would like to hear the "Ride into the Sun" cover, it' my favourite VU instrumental. Remember once making a 30 min.tape with only only that song on and on and on, it made driving a lot of fun.

Hi Doctor Bob, I think it is Malkmus singing on What Goes On, although the vocal does sound very thin. Its messy but has a witty feel, a bit like "Temptation inside your heart", The Doug Yule comment always reminds me of "hey close the door", also the sloppy guitar solo is funny.

Oh yeah another one i like is Yo La Tengo doing Im set free.

Thanks for that. I really love Pavement and Malkmus so I was expecting to really like their "What Goes On" cover when I first heard it, and I agree Malkmus' guitar solo is pretty cool, but the vocals don't sound quite right to me (I never would have guessed it's Malkmus despite owning all his records!)
