Whatever happened to the VU acetate that some guy bought for 75 cents at a New York garage sale? It was supposed to go on eBay. Was the story for real? Do we know exactly what was on it? Which acetate was it? I never really heard much more about it.

I haven't heard that that wasn't a true story. Don't know why it didn't go up on eBay, maybe somebody associated with Lou made an offer? I don't know. As for the contents, I think it's a less crackly, less played copy of the same acetate that's been booted on this CD, no? That's what I've heard.

Hey! Gimme back my avatar! :)

Me too, that's such a cool shot, and a great boot. Actually, I've got a nice little home-made Moe avatar, but you can't hotlink from Yahoo Briefcase, so I have to find a free image hosting site so I can start using it.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand; I've got a copy of "Mono Acetates" on it's way to me, can't wait to get it! How lucky have we been lately? First the Rosie tapes, which nobody was expecting to hear in decent quality, and now alternate takes and mixes from the first album. Truly unbelievable. I'd say the only major unturned stone left, more or less, is Cale's tape stash.

Excuse me for asking, but what exactly are the Rosie tapes? What's included in them? Are they more alternate takes?

It's "All Tomorrow's Parties," a CD that's only available for public hearing at the Andy Warhol museum in Pittsburgh. See:

Are they any different from the "At The Warhol Museum" boots that are available? The setlist seems pretty much the same.

Same material, only good quality in-line recordings as opposed to the off-line across-the-room sound that the "At The Warhol Museum" boot has. Makes all the difference in the world, believe me... :-)
