No, he didn't say that. He didn't suggest that a VU thing would not work without Sterling ? rather he was saying it could not work with Reed.

'We can't [have a VU reunion]. I've no conviction that Lou's interested in the same things that I am'.

In answer to being questioned on working in a studio for say a month with Reed, he said it could work with Reed again if the project took no longer than a week.

'I have an idea of what might work but I'm not sure if anyone else would be interested in it.... I'm not sure that I'd have a willing partner in the experiment... I don't think Lou would be interested in it'.

Cale's an interesting interviewee. He talks with a detached and intelligent eloquence about the VU work. I like hearing him talk. Thanks for the link, PQ.

John has said recently " Lou feels he loses something of his soul when he collaborates.? maybe that is the reason, he has also been consistent in saying there will not be a VU re-union without Sterling.
