Wouldn't that be a little bit annoying for people who bought this Super Deluxe set purely on the strength of getting the Matrix songs?

Possibly. I bet what we get next is a Super Deluxe 1969: The Velvet Underground Live With Lou Reed. We know that there are bootlegs with better sounding versions of the End of Cole Avenue tracks included on 1969, along with the vastly superior Matrix soundboard tapes.

Basically I'm predicting something like a 4-CD Super Deluxe 1969: TVULWLR, with all the songs originally included presented in these superior-fidelity versions, plus a bunch of "extras" that have been available on the Cole Avenue bootlegs, and more Matrix stuff beyond what will appear on the Super Deluxe of the 3rd album.

It will annoy some people, sure, but us long-time fans know the drill at this point. We re-buy the same stuff over and over, with some previously unearthed stuff added. Sometimes it's a lot of "new" stuff, sometimes it's a little. Sometimes it's stuff that's been available on bootlegs, but in better fidelity than what the bootlegs offered. Such is the nature of the record business, especially in this day and age when the record labels rely on big, expensive sets to make up for overall declining sales of physical products.

You know what? I might even buy that.
Show business has always been like that, any kind. If these people didn't live intense and rather disordered lives, if their emotions didn't ride them too hard, they wouldn't be able to catch those emotions and project them across the footlights -Chandler

My ideal would be those 1969 tracks mastered by Mofi/MFSL into a good LP sequence ? like the one that has been discussed here recently.
(And preferably without any of those false starts and added studio chatter that for me detract from the songs. )

I'd also happily buy their versions of both VU&N and WL/WH+ added Cale tracks.

So excited about the Matrix recordings. I may have missed it, but is there any info available yet regarding a vinyl release of this? Probably won't have the full 2 cd's worth of Matrix stuff, but that sure would be nice if it did.

Really looking forward to hearing the final part of "There She Goes Again" live. I hope they jam out like they do on the VU&N version.

For the 45th anniversary, the vinyl release is just the 3rd album VV mix - single LP. Not sure what may happen in the future.

From the VU shopping site, see 4th paragraph:

argh! this is a tough one for me - the 3rd LP is my least fave, so I really don't want 3 new versions on CD to not listen to, and I just feel like UMG are screwing us on this one, because we know we're not getting all the VU/Another View stuff or all the Matrix stuff, leaving both of these as potential future releases to fork out for.
The booklets look nice but they are a waste of time also imo - just give us the photos and posters (most of which we've seen over + over anyway), forget about David Fricke, he must be one of the most boring music writers ever.

The most exciting aspect of the set for me is the original mix of Foggy Notion, and I'm gong to wait for that to appear in another form. Ditto the Matrix tapes.

Lame on the vinyl (but thanks for the info.). Hopefully I can find some alternative to actually buying CDs to hear the Matrix content, because I just don't buy CDs. Vinyl lovers are people too, I say. Maybe beats music will have it all for streaming like they do with the other super deluxe editions... Very excited though, November can't come soon enough.

BE CAREFUL!!!!!!
I was on the blog about the VU 45th anniversary deluxe and slicked the link to pre-order the super deluxe with flexi and not till I got my receipt did I realize that it was a link to WL/WH with flexi that I ordered. Shit! That's $100 I really don't have and it will postpone my pre-ordering the 3rd album deluxe. Of course there is no phone to call so I sent an email asking to cancel but they say all sales final so I am probably out of luck. Anybody interested in a super deluxe WL/WH with flexi? :? anyway......be careful and if anyone finds a link or info about a set with flexi, please post it here.
