It is indeed from Browning's "Freaks". You get an A+! As far as "the Professor" I am still searching the memory banks for where I get the Jonathan Richman reference.

For those with no access to dime I can re-torrent it on the VU tracker in a few days when activity on dime has died down a bit.

I beleive the first one I procured was circa 1977.

I didn't start collecting that sort of stuff till the early 1980s: by that time, all of the now available Boston Tea Party shows were circulating or at least on other people's trade lists.

Gordon, I am really REALLY tired of upgrading my CD-R's! Is the Scorpio release an improvement over existing copies? I assumed Scorpio released "torrented" shows.

hi MG - I downloaded the Scorpio set form Dime. I've not listened to it all yet but my initial reaction is that it's not any big improvement over what I've got. I think if I did a bit of eq'ing and tinkering with my existing copies of these shows then they would sound just the same as the Scorpio offerings. Last night I did a quick comparison of 3 versions of "Candy Says" - 2 from the Scorpio set and my own from the 12/12/68 show I just uploaded to Dime. I reckon my 12/12/68 version was the best of the 3 (but I'm hardly an unbiased observer). So I'm not convinced that Scorpio have done any more than clean up the best copies of those shows they could find ie they do not have access to the Polygram remastered versions. (Or it may just be that the "4th gen" copies I have are just about as good as it gets). But recall Sal's recent comment that the "remastered" versions are a significant upgrade over what we are all used to.....!
I stand by the comment I made a while back - if you listen to these BTP recordings you can tell that they have never been really top quality in the first place.

My 12/12/68 torrent on Dime has quietened down now. When I get home tonight I'll upload it to the "VU torrent tracker" and you can all snatch it from there and make up your own minds....

BTW Scorpio have always had a good reputation for sourcing the best quality material and packaging. Their "Live 1966" Bob Dylan box set was a model of how bootleg sets should be - master quality material and superb packaging. That's why I just assumed that their BTP 1969 set was sourced from the Polygram remastered material.

Well that's my view anyway - download my 12/12/68 show and let me know what you all think.
