Whilst trying to fin the 45th anniversary WLWH set on amazon.co.uk I found this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Velvet-Unde ... nderground
A blu-Ray audio release of the banana album. I'm not familiar with the format and from what I've read hires audio isn't worthwhile - but I want to hear what folk think.
Are we going to hear something new here?

Re: Banana album Blu-Ray audio
This is how the recording industry alienates their market:
'Oh by-the-way CD was no good after all.'
'So you flogged your nice old LPs after we told you CDs were perfect sound forever and we effectively sold you three different versions of the CD as we discovered that we couldn't master very well or consistently and things sounded a little naff. And we now realise that CDs were no good after all. Sorry about all that but here's a lovely bluray version in a cheap box to buy just a year after you bought the last boxset.'
No wonder s/h LPs became so bloody expensive as we discovered that they were perfect sound forever. Well, at least perfect sound for the owner's lifetime - which is perfectly long enough.
NB. Apologies for my outburst and to answer your serious question, fontalamh. My advice is to read those VU&N bluray reviews on Amzazon. The box itself sounds cheap. A download would be preferable. Some people even say VU&N doesn't stand up to the close scrutiny afforded by HD.
The HD remaster 3rd LP download sounded great but then I downgraded it to red book audio to hear it. The 3rd is also better sounding recording to start with and that may benefit more than VU&N.

Well if you look closely at the cover theres a section of banana missing at the bottom, as if its been scanned from an old LP cover..odd...MJG196 wrote:I wonder if that is an illegit release. "Label: Commercial Marketing"

The 'commercial marketing' label seems to be a place holder. It's the same for the upcoming WLWH edition.
I hadn't encountered a dodgy pre-release before which is what sparked my interest but the whole thing does seem curious and even if legit, a step too far. And what was the other edition that the reviews are for?
Obviously it being a step too far may not prevent me buying it...
